	CDI Series	Clinical Documentation Improvement Essentials IRM's CDI Essentials includes five courses: CDI Introduction and Overview, CDI Compliance and Ethics, CDI Record Review, Tools, and Queries, CDI MS-DRG Basics, and ICD-9-CM Coding Introduction and Tools. CDI Introduction and Overview discusses the following CDI topics: definition, the capture of all documentation related to a patient’s care, the use of paper and/or electronic files, and the objective of an effective CDI program. In Compliance and Ethics, we will discuss the various aspects of Clinical Documentation Improvement Programs (CDIP) through lessons on the following: what compliance means to Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI), ethics, medical necessity, the various regulatory agencies (i.e. CMS, OIG, QIO, etc.), and how CDI can impact RAC. Record Review, Tools, and Queries covers three lessons: how to review a Medical Record for documentation, the tools that a Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) should have and how to use them, and the Physician Query process. Diagnosis-Related Groups (DRGs) provide the basis for payment under Medicare’s Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS). MS-DRG Basics explains the basic concepts for the following: DRGs, IPPS history, and the role DRGs play in reimbursement for acute care facilities. ICD-9-CM Coding Introduction and Tools includes an introduction to the idea of coding and history of coding systems used throughout the world. As an introductory course to ICD-9-CM, it includes important definitions from the Uniform Hospital Discharge Data Set (UHDDS), detailed instruction on the use of the ICD-9-CM codebook, and important coding conventions and guidelines put forth by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Cooperating Parties. It also includes instruction on the querying process and the use of the medical record as the source document for coding. The user can test his/her skill with interactive quizzes placed throughout the course.		$119.00
